  • What’s the problem with OEM bump stops?

What’s the problem with OEM bump stops?

OEM bump stops are notably rigid. When they make contact, it’s jarringly evident.

You might find change catapulted from your cup holder and glovebox contents scattered on the floor.

Durobumps has the solution. By absorbing and decelerating wheel up travel before the bump stops make the final halt, Durobumps eliminate the hard thud we are all too familiar with when bottoming out your suspension.

The results are ultra smooth engagement that becomes progressively firmer upon compression, ensuring optimal bottom-out control for your vehicle.

  • What’s the difference between an off-road bump stop and a towing bump stop?

What’s the difference between an off-road bump stop and a towing bump stop?

Not all bump stops are created equal.

Bump stops serve varied purposes based on their design. Some are designed to reduce wheel up-travel while others do not limit your wheel up-travel at all.

    [ux_video url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzTK4mPMRZ0″]

Off-road bump stops such as Durobumps engage during the final 10% of suspension up travel, catering to off-roading scenarios where articulation is key. They are compact, ensuring maximum flexibility on uneven terrains.

On the other hand, bump stops tailored for towing are much larger and engaged during the last 30% of suspension up-travel. This early engagement ensures the shocks have ample time to effectively control and dampen up travel, optimizing stability during towing.

There is no such thing as one bump stop that can do it all because, as we have discussed, the two different applications require a very different design.

  • What size bump stop do I need?

What size bump stop do I need?

On each of our product pages, you’ll find the “Lift Height” indication, which specifies the necessary lift for that particular bump stop.

The main determining factor in what size bump stops you will need depends on what suspension kit you have and the provided lift height.

    [ux_video url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qAEqYbpxJJI”]

This can range from stock height to 3 inches plus. We specify the minimum lift height required for all extended bump stops.

The reason we specify a minimum lift is to allow sufficient time for the shocks to slow the wheel up travel prior to the bump stops engaging.

  • Why doesn’t Durobumps offer extended length front bump stops for the Toyota product line?

Why doesn’t Durobumps offer extended length front bump stops for the Toyota product line?

For safety reasons, DuroBumps does not offer extended front bump stops for Toyota models.

From the factory, these vehicles come with a 5.5-inch stroke shock at the front. Introducing a taller bump stop would reduce the shock’s ability and effectiveness in controlling upward motion.

This can result in premature bump stop contact, destabilizing the vehicle and increasing rollover risks, especially at high speeds or uneven roads.

    [ux_video url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bu1AkVB6sh0″]

There is no practical need for the available aftermarket suspension kits available. Bump stop size is solely determined by the suspension setup, not to fit oversized tires.

Our commitment is to prioritize safety without compromising the vehicle’s handling performance.
