What’s the problem with OEM bump stops?

OEM bump stops are notably rigid. When they make contact, it’s jarringly evident.

You might find change catapulted from your cup holder and glovebox contents scattered on the floor.

Durobumps has the solution. By absorbing and decelerating wheel up travel before the bump stops make the final halt, Durobumps eliminate the hard thud we are all too familiar with when bottoming out your suspension.

    [ux_video url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFQjAM7LbTs”]

The results are ultra smooth engagement that becomes progressively firmer upon compression, ensuring optimal bottom-out control for your vehicle.

  • Why doesn’t Durobumps offer extended length front bump stops for the Toyota product line?

Why doesn’t Durobumps offer extended length front bump stops for the Toyota product line?

For safety reasons, DuroBumps does not offer extended front bump stops for Toyota models.

From the factory, these vehicles come with a 5.5-inch stroke shock at the front. Introducing a taller bump stop would reduce the shock’s ability and effectiveness in controlling upward motion.

This can result in premature bump stop contact, destabilizing the vehicle and increasing rollover risks, especially at high speeds or uneven roads.

    [ux_video url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bu1AkVB6sh0″]

There is no practical need for the available aftermarket suspension kits available. Bump stop size is solely determined by the suspension setup, not to fit oversized tires.

Our commitment is to prioritize safety without compromising the vehicle’s handling performance.

  • Rodeo X Rigs Vol. 7: Rigs on the Water Edition Vallejo, CA

Rodeo X Rigs Vol. 7: Rigs on the Water Edition Vallejo, CA

Rodeo X Rigs Vol. 7 “Rigs on the Water Edition” occurred on August 26, 2023, at Mare Island in Vallejo, CA. The event was scheduled from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and was family-friendly and open to the public. With the event being located on the water’s edge, it made for a beautiful background.

Over 450 rigs and 1,500+ automotive and off-road enthusiasts attended and came together to see their favorite vendors, share stories, and donate towards a great cause, the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.

This was Durobumps’ first Rodeo X Rigs event, and we were excited to attend. We’ve had our eye on previous Trail Wolves and Rodeo X Rigs events and were always impressed with everything about them, from the overall event organization and advertising, attendance size, family-friendly spirit, and charitable cause. These events seriously stand out.

We arrived in NorCal a day early to attend a vendor dinner hosted by Pure 4×4. There must have been 20+ of us taking over restaurants and bars. It was a lot of fun. Dinner with Pure 4×4, Optimum Advertising, and King Shocks was a good time! We even had a shuttle service back to our hotel rooms after dinner. Thank You, Nina!

The vendor setup for the event was 6 a.m. We arrived a little late due to our fantastic dinner the previous night. Once we arrived, we were greeted by the Trail Wolves Team with big smiling faces and quickly showed our booth setup location.

We had trailered our 2002 Toyota 4Runner to this event. We are excited to show the new Total Chaos suspension setup using Durobumps Premium bump stops. Jonny, my right-hand man, quickly had the booth setup as always and Competition Crusher ready to go. We had a few minutes before the event started, so Jonny and I made our rounds talking with all our friends in the industry who were in attendance representing the best dealers and manufacturers in the country.

The show started at 8 a.m., and attendees were arriving in swarms. The parking lot behind the event quickly filled up, and we had a great flow of people stopping by our booth, sharing their experiences with Durobumps and talking about their builds. It’s crazy how many great friends we’ve made at these events.

Many off-road manufacturers and dealers were in attendance, offering special event discounts and showcasing new products coming to market. There were also several food and drink vendors, music, and fantastic rigs on display.

The day went by fast. Before we knew it, 5 hours had flown by, and it was time to pack up. The award for the fastest tear-down goes to Albert and Peter from KING Shocks. They were done in 5 minutes.

We want to thank Jason, the founder of Trail Wolves and Rodeo X Rigs, and his entire team, who helped organize this gathering and gave us a place to come together and enjoy the day.

Everyone needs to keep their eye out for these guys. They are doing big things in the community, and we couldn’t be more proud to help support this event and the many more to come.

DuroBumps 2002 Toyota 4 Runner Overview

For all the off-road aficionados, Curtis from DuroBumps is back with a deep dive into his iconic 2002 Toyota 4Runner. This isn’t just any 4Runner; it’s a testament to years of passion, craftsmanship, and the pursuit of off-road excellence. Every inch of this rig tells a story, from its custom lighting to its robust suspension.

Curtis has meticulously crafted and fine-tuned each component, making it a standout on any trail. Join us as we explore the ins and outs of this remarkable build, showcasing what makes it a true DuroBumps special.

Lighting the Way with Baja Designs

First up, the lighting. We’re talking a whopping 70,000 lumens, all thanks to Baja Designs. The ONX bar is seamlessly integrated into the grill. And just beneath the headlights? More Baja Designs brilliance with the S1s, Squadron Pros, and XL80s.

Custom-crafted at our shop, the headlights even boast the DuroBumps logo, engraved into a Morimoto D2S 5.0 projector. And for that extra flair? RGB demon eyes, are perfect for those parking lot meets.

    Winch and Custom Front Bumper

The winch is a beast – a Warn Zeon 12K with electronic disengagement. This allows for a sleek integration into my one-of-a-kind front bumper by Tommy Gun Fab. We’ve optimized the approach angle by removing about four inches from the frame rail. The bumper design is unique, mirroring the rear bumper, and has an integrated skid plate.

    Suspension Mastery

Suspension-wise, we trust Total Chaos. The rig sports factory-width upper and lower control arms from them. Add in shocks from ADS, a three-tube overlapping bypass, and a 2.5-inch coilover shock, and you’ve got a setup ready for any challenge.

And of course, the signature DuroBumps bump stops. Curtis’ 4Runner features tandem DuroBumps, handling up to 3,000 pounds of compression load.

    Tires and Rims

Being a Toyo shop, Curtis’ 4Runner is equipped with 35-inch Toyo MTs. These sit on KMC Impact beadlocks with a raw finish, ensuring style and performance.

durobumps toyota runner sliders underbody protection

    Sliders and Underbody Protection

The sides feature robust sliders from RSG, complete with kick-outs. And for that underbody protection? EIM Keith’s lower-link skids and rear-link reinforcements have got us covered.

    Rear Setup and Performance

The rear boasts Baja Design S2 Pros for backup lights and an RTL light for enhanced visibility. Performance-wise, we’re talking Harrop E-Lockers on both the front and rear, re-geared to 529s for those beefy 35-inch tires.

    A Fresh Look and Feel

Having been with me for about 15 years, this 4Runner has seen its days. But now, it sports a fresh coat of paint, thanks to Sean at Slickshot Paint. Inside, we’ve revamped everything – sound deadening, new carpet, new seats, all while preserving that beloved OEM look.

That’s a wrap on Curtis’ 2002 Toyota 4Runner build. Drop your thoughts in the comments below and let’s chat about the next upgrades we should make!
